After leading the University of Oregon to the 1977 NCAA Cross Country Title, Alberto Salazar went on to become an American running legend. A member of the National Distance Running Hall of Fame, Alberto competed in the 1980 & 1984 Olympics, won the 1982 Boston Marathon, won three New York City Marathons, and went on to set one World and six American records.

In 2008, Salazar coached three athletes to the Olympic Games in Beijing: Amy Yoder-Begley 10k, Kara Goucher 5k & 10k, and Galen Rupp 10k.
